I'm not the happy, positive girl from down the street. I'm loud around people i'm comfortable with, and as shy as a possum around new people, or people who intimidate me. I have always struggled with 'fitting in', and it was hard going through school because I felt I couldn't be myself around so many strangers. So I set goals. It went from getting an A on my English essay (accomplished), to learning Japanese (well not all goals work out perfectly okay), to completing year 10, going to my formal and feeling like one of the pretty girls for once (accomplished #boosted-self-esteem). Nowadays, I still maintain goals, but it is obviously harder to find major goals to work towards if you're not studying or working.
I'm currently studying a tertiary preparation certificate, and I've created the goal to complete this course with a 70% success score. So what if you are unemployed, a stay at home mum or dad, or are disabled? Make 1 goal a week. Yes, a week, that may seem like a challenge, but it will eventually, become routine for you. So an example of this goal could be something as simple as call your long lost cousin or clean out the cupboard. Some suggestions?
- Clean a room or cupboard, empty a draw or dust your furniture
- Find those missing items, you once hid away so you didn't lose, but lost
- Take the dog for a walk
- Cook a dinner every night that's healthy, or cook your favorite dinner for yourself.
Now if you work, goals are a little easier to pick up, you could;
- work on your computing/phone/socializing skills.
- do that extra work for the boss that he or she doesn't have time to do
or even focus on cleaning or relationship things at home.
A goal that shouldn't really have to be a goal is to spend 1 hour a day off technology, relaxing. Possibly reading a book, doing some writing, drawing or painting.
